Hima boosts Nyagatare with clean water

Residents of Nyagatare District in Eastern Province will no longer have to walk long distances in search of clean water following the launch of a borehole in the area last week.

Residents of Nyagatare District in Eastern Province will no longer have to walk long distances in search of clean water following the launch of a borehole in the area last week. 

The borehole donated by Hima Cement will serve close to 1,000 resident in the drought prone district, according to Stanley Muganwa, the Nyagatare District vice-mayor for economic affairs. Muganwa, who was speaking at the launch of the facility, urged the local leaders and residents to manage the water point well so that it can benefit everyone.

He said the borehole will go a long way in improving the lives of many people, and supporting their economic ventures,” he added.

Jimmy Mugabo, the Hima Cement Rwanda representative, said access to clean water was key to improve health of residents.

"We believe in empowering local communities by supporting initiatives that ensure sustainable development, and nurture the environment, including increasing access to safe drinking water,” he added.
