Rwanda National Police (RNP) is holding two people suspected of involvement in malpractices and fraudulently awarding of a tender for the construction of Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) hotel.

Police Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Célestin Twahirwa identified the suspects as Olivier Mulindahabi, the Secretary General of FERWAFA, and Eng. Adolphe Muhirwa, a consultant hired to study the tender.

"They were arrested to facilitate ongoing investigations, on reasonable belief that they made their decisions to award the tender based on favouritism, foregoing proper procedures prescribed by the law and suspected corruption,” ACP Twahirwa said.

He further revealed that the arrest follows detention of Protais Segatabazi, the owner of Experts Company Limited, which was awarded the tender based on forged documents.

When the case files are completed, they will soon be submitted to prosecution.

ACP Twahirwa emphasised that RNP is doing its mission of fighting crime, impunity and protecting public interests.
