The Amavubi are still chasing their first win under new coach Carlos Alos as they were held to a goalless draw by Equatorial Guinea in a FIFA International friendly game in Casablanca on Friday evening.

The first half saw both teams not exerting much force into the game as few chances were created at both ends.

The Amavubi midfield made up of Djihad Bizimana, Rafael York and Kevin Muhire were able to hold their fort as they closed all the spaces which prevented the Equatorial Guineans from operating.

Rwandan strikers Yves Mugunga and Meddie Kagere remained isolated upfront with limited services from the midfielders who did more defensive work.

The duo were not much involved until the referee blew his whistle for the end of the first half.

Equatorial Guinea started the second half brightly with Basilio Ndong and Pedro Obiang causing problems for the Rwandan back four with their pace, power and artistry.

Ndong missed a glorious chance to put Equatorial Guinea ahead in the 52nd minute as his left footed strike inside the box missed the target narrowly.

Coach Carlos pulled out Mugunga and Kagere and introduced Glen Habimana and Gerard Gohou respectively to revive the attack.

The two substitutes combined beautifully around the 18-yard box with Gohou hitting a shot which missed the post by inches to the relief of the Equatorial Guinea goalkeeper.

The Amavubi midfield needed reinforcement and Ally Niyonzima as well as Blaise Nishimwe came in for Steve Rubanguka and Djihad Bizimana in the final ten minutes of the game as both teams held their might until the referee blew his whistle for the end of the game.
