Taekwondo national team duo of Regis Iyumva and Aline Ndacyayisenga missed the Rio 2016 Olympic Games qualifiers that started n Saturday in the Moroccan city of Agadir, the local taekwondo federation has confirmed.

Rwanda Taekwondo Federation secretary general, Placide Bagabo revealed that duo missed the two-day event which ends on Sunday, after the federation failure to secure funds from the Ministry of Sports and Culture (MINISPOC).

According to the official, MINISPOC refused to facilitate them because the federation doesn’t have legal status from Rwanda Governance Board (RGB)—MINISPOC had stopped funding all non-registered federations.

"We have been following the progress of attaining legal status with assistance from Olympic Committee officials and MINISPOC’s director of sports but it has taken long to come,” added Bagabo
