The 15 finalists who will compete for the Miss Rwanda 2016 crown will be chosen on February 14 at Petit Stade, Remera.

This extends the anticipation of the 25 contestants whose fate is being shaped by the voting process that kicked off after the Kigali auditions on January 23. The voting process will contribute 10 percent to the final rating of those to make it to the last 15.

The Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Inspiration Back Up, the organisers of the pageant said the decision to postpone the event which was earlier planned for February 6 was to give Rwandans a chance to enjoy the 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament final which takes place on Sunday.

The 25 contestants who participated in Umuganda community work, last Saturday will continue with a host of visits to venues of national significance. The visits started on Thursday with a trip to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Gisozi.

"We want the contestants to be educated about the history of the country, especially for those who don’t know much because the winner should represent the country,” he says.

The next visit will be to Ntarama Genocide Memorial, Bugesera on Tuesday, followed by a visit to ex-combatants in Nyarugunga, Kanombe before proceeding to the National Museum of Rwanda in Nyanza on Thursday.

The grand finale will take place at Camp Kigali on February 27.
