Craftspeople from all the five provinces of the country will get the opportunity to exhibit their art at the first ever edition of the Kigali Arts Festival on February 20 at Hôtel des Mille Collines by Kempinski, Kigali.

The festival will give over 50 artisans based in the rural areas a platform for exposure and market which have normally been enjoyed by their urban counterparts and foreigners.

"We were approached by local artisans looking for a platform to sell and market their creations,” said Celestin Best Ntawirema, the CEO of Kigali Cultural Fashion Show.

Ntawirema added that artisans were selected through a competition in all provinces where those with the most unique creations were picked.

Ntawirema added that there will be diversity of art from sculptures, weaved materials, jewelry and more, with an opportunity for revelers to watch the craftspeople as they make their wares.

The exhibition which kicks off at 9 am will be followed by a mini fashion show featuring designers and models also locally based starting at 6pm to 9pm.
