Bourse weekly turnover drops

Last week, the equity market registered a drop with a total turnover of Rwf421 million from eight deals, representing a drop in value of 72.8 per cent, from Rwf1.5 billion recorded the previous week, the Rwanda Stock Exchange (RSE) weekly report indicates. 

Total volumes transacted also went down from 9.7 million the previous week to 1.5 million last week.

Yesterday, the RSE was closed as it was a public holiday to mark Heroes Day in Rwanda.

On Monday last week, Rwf87,000 was recorded from one deal with Tuesday registering the highest number of deals and turnover worth Rwf420 million from five deals. No business was recorded on Wednesday, while turnover of Rwf95,200 was registered on Thursday from two deals. Few equities traded on Friday last week, with Bank of Kigali recording a total turnover of Rwf924,000 from 3,300 shares at Rwf280 in one deal.

The Rwanda Stock Exchange Share Index and All Shared Index remained constant at 146.79 and 130.60 points, respectively.

Equity Bank, Nation Media Group, KCB, Crystal Telecom and Uchumu Supermarket counters were all quiet on Friday, and closed at Rwf334, Rwf1,200, Rwf330, Rwf174, Rwf98 and Rwf104, respectively.

At the end of formal trading hours, there was an outstanding offer of 2,000 shares on the Bank of Kigali counter at Rwf300 and an outstanding bid of 1,000 shares at Rwf280.

On the Bralirwa counter, there were outstanding offers of 556,800 shares at Rwf174, while Crystal Telecom had offers of 907,700 shares at between Rwf98 and Rwf106 and bids for 28,800 shares, ranging from Rwf90-96.

The KCB counter had an outstanding offer of 9,700 shares at Rwf340, but there were no bids.

The bond market received no offers despite outstanding bids of Rwf50.3 million worth of bonds at between Rwf101 and Rwf102.
