Ivory Coast head coach Michel Dussuyer has saluted his players after thumping archrivals Cameroon 3-0 to advance to the semi-finals of the 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) on Saturday evening at Huye Stadium.

After a goalless draw in normal time, the game went into extra and in a space of 17 minutes, the Elephants ran riot over the Indomitable Lions, to set-up a semi-final showdown with Mali, who came from behind to beat Tunisia 2-1 on Sunday.

Substitute Koffi Davy Mahinde rose highest to break the deadlock five minutes into extra time, and six minutes later Atcho Herman Djobo pounced on a loose ball to head in the second goal past Cameroon goalkeeper, Hugo Patrick Nyame before Ivory Coast skipper Yao Serge N'Guessan completed the rout in the 113th minute from the halfway line.

"We showed some good spirit in the first half, but failed to use our chances. But in second half, we were the better side, especially in extra time,” Dussuyer said.

The Frenchman added that, "We had studied their game well and we produced a good display. My players delivered a great performance. I am happy for their work and the character they have shown.”
