At least 13 universities from Canada will take part in a ‘Study in Canada Seminar.’ The two-day event will commence today at Kigali Serena Hall starting at 1:00pm.

The event is expected to provide information on studying in Canadian universities and guiding students on how to submit applications.

"We expect a huge turn-up, especially from international schools,” Claude Gakwandi, the country representative for Centre for Education Network, the institution that coordinates the programme told The Education Times.

According to Gakwandi, the Centre for Education Network has worked with Canadian institutions for six years, and during that period over 600 students have joined Canadian institutions after successful visa applications.

"Last year, 110 students got visas to study in Canada and only 30 of those who applied were rejected,” he added.

At this year’s event, participant institutions include the University of Waterloo, McMaster MBA programme, Trent University, Wilfred Laurie University, North Island College, College of New Caledonia, Columbia College, Durham College, University of Manitoba, Vancouver Island University, Thompson Rivers University, Golden Hills School division and Okanagan College.

The Canadian high commission also pledged continuous encouragement and facilitation of collaboration between Canadian universities and Rwandan education providers.
