Multi-award winning Kenyan band, Sauti Sol, has announced plans to release projects that feature different Rwandan artistes.

The 'SUZANA' hit makers announced the development on Friday, September 23, during a press briefing ahead of the all-star game which the band will headline this Saturday in Kigali.

Speaking at the presser, Savara Mudigi, one of the vocalists and drummer of the band, said that Rwandan music has dope artistes and they have already had studio sessions with some.

"Rwandan artistes are dope and we are already cooking big things with some including Mike Kayihura who is among the best musicians in the country at the moment. We have a song with him and it will be out soon,” Mudigi said at the presser, adding that the band looks forward to working with more artistes like Bruce Melodie.

The band last featured Rwandan musicians in 2019 when it appeared on Mani Martin’s single, ‘Mapenzi’.

Asked what Rwandans should expect from the band at the highly anticipated game, Mudigi noted that the band is ready to perform most of its hit songs, especially tracks on their latest album dubbed 'Midnight Train'.

The 13-track album dropped in June 2020, and featured the likes of India Arie, Soweto Gospel Choir, Sho Madjozi and Black Motion.

"Our latest album is titled 'Midnight Train' and the train has now arrived in Kigali. We are going to perform different songs including some on our fifth album. It’s going down tomorrow!” Mudigi said.

According to Bien-Aimé Baraza, member and songwriter of the band, Rwanda is home to Sauti sol and performing at the all-star game feels like a homecoming concert.

"Two weeks ago we were here for the gorilla naming ceremony and now we are back. This shows how Rwanda is home to us and we can’t wait to meet our fans again,” Baraza noted at the presser held at BK Arena.

For Christopher, Rwandan artistes who is among the headliners of the game, sharing the stage with Sauti sol is a dream come true.

"I am very thrilled to perform my latest song ‘Hashtag’ with my fans for the first time on the same stage as Sauti Sol. We have a lot in store for you, don’t miss it!” Christopher said.

The Kenyan band will perform alongside local artistes Christopher Muneza, Ish Kevin, DJ Marnaud and the MC Darius Capello.

This year’s edition will be the fourth edition of the competition where it brings together FERWABA stars from the local league, where they group two teams and play against each other.
