RE: "No cause for alarm; Rwandans have clarity of their democratisation process” (The New Times, January 21).

The point is that us Rwandans have decided where we want to go and envisioned what we want to be in the global scheme of things. This has made it easy for us to carefully select the activities and choices that will get us there.

I don’t see how else the equation would be complete because the danger of knowing where you want to go, and not selecting and doing the things that will deliver you there, is that reaching your destination will be at the mercy of the elements of nature. And they are not always merciful.

By the way, why do these fellows (Western countries) keep thinking they can give approvals for what other people decide for themselves? Who approves their own decisions? Is it because of their aid? Should the aid reduce the rest of the world to mere annexes of the West?

I don’t understand why they should say "no” when Rwandans are saying "yes” in matters that concern them; will Rwanda be run by the Americans or Rwandans?

They don’t help where problems are, but they want to interfere where solutions are. Watch Burundi — I fear the country will smolder until it’s broken down to ash and yet the same guys who want to decide for Rwandans what we should be are just silent.
