Cote d’Ivoire get first win in CHAN 2016

Cote d’Ivoire registered their first win in the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) this evening after beating Morocco 1-0 at Amahoro National Stadium.

Cote d’Ivoire registered their first win in the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) this evening after beating Morocco 1-0  at Amahoro National Stadium.

The only goal scored by Yannick Zakri came in the 45th minute from a penalty conceded by the North Africans just before half time.

In the second, half Morocco tried to force a draw but, the Ivorian goal keeper made a couple saves that might eventually keep his team into the tournament.

Earlier, Rwanda beat Gabon 2-1 in the other Group A game to become the first team to qualify the quarter-finals of CHAN 2016. The fate of the other teams; Cote d’Ivoire, Morocco and Gabon will be decided on the last day of Group A matches this Sunday.
