Former Rwanda international striker Meddie Kagere has parted ways with Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia after both parties failed to agree terms for a new contract.

After tough negotiations for contract renewal that lasted for nearly two weeks, talks failed to materialize which saw the Uganda-born striker Kagere’s one-year stint at Gor come to an end.

The Kenyan giants officially confirmed the development on the club’s official website (gormahiafc.co.ke) on Friday morning.

In a statement, club chairman Ambrose Rachier said,” We have tried our best to negotiate with Meddie Kagere but it’s quite unfortunate we will not be able to renew his contract because we can’t meet his high demands.”

It’s a huge blow for the club to miss such a top striker who played an integral part in the glorious year (2015) in which the Sportpesa Premier League champions went unbeaten the whole season.

Former Police FC and Rayon Sports forward Kagere arrived at the club in early 2015 and signed a one-year deal and the two parties were keen on a contract extension but they failed to reach an agreement.

The 29-year old has also played for Mukura, Atraco FC, and SC Kiyovu in Rwanda as well as ES Zarzis in Tunisia before heading to KF Tirana in Albania in mid-2014 for a brief spell.

According to reports from Nairobi, Kagere, whose contract expired last month, was demanding KSh 6 Million (about Rwf 44 million) before he can extend his stay with the champions.
