Editor,

RE: "How social media has evolved and transformed Rwandan society” (The New Times, January 3).

It was very heartening to read your article on how social media has transformed Rwandan society and actually helped Edmund Kagire in his fight against liver cancer.

Kudos to the Rwandan diaspora and to all those who have rallied round Kagire and supported him.

The Kigali Tweet and Greet (#KGLTG) event organized in the car-free zone is both interesting and very fruitful too.

The Ministry of Youth and ICT has of course played a pivotal role and has definitely facilitated the transformation of Rwandan society through social media.

Among the many interesting programmes and conferences organised by MYICT, one which does stand out is "Transform Africa”.

With such initiatives, Remarkable Rwanda could well become the "Silicon Valley” of Africa.

My prayers and good wishes go out to Kagire for his speedy recovery. It is without any doubt that more things are wrought by prayer than this world can think of.
