The year is coming to an end, and it is around this time when most people try to set goals and resolutions for the coming year. Women Today’s Donah Mbabazi caught up with some women who shared some of the things that they are hoping to achieve in 2016.

Eva Gara - Managing Director at ‘The Point Business Centre’:

Eva Gara

2016 will be an amazing year for me, since I will be celebrating 30 years in marriage. I intend to make it a year of celebration, just being thankful to God in all I do. I also plan on developing my business and expanding it more. I am also hoping to travel a lot in the coming year, but mostly for business reasons.

Sandrine Isheja - Radio Presenter KISS FM:

Sandrine Isheja

In 2016, I am going to focus on three main things. They say; show, don’t tell; so as a presenter, the first thing that I am going to do is take my radio game to another level though I can’t disclose the secret right now. Secondly, in 2016, I am getting married and starting a family. Business wise, I am planning to start up my own company though it won’t be connected to the media industry.

Fidelis Karangwa - Brand Manager Mobicash:

Fidelis Karangwa

By the end of 2016; I want to own at least two businesses. It doesn’t have to be anything huge but I want to push for self-employment. Academically, I want to start pursuing my Master’s degree. As for my love for television; I am looking forward to starting my own talk show preferably a live show but that is still work in progress. For my personal life; I want to adopt a healthier lifestyle; eat healthier, exercise more, travel more, not be afraid to take risks and push myself to the limit.

Sarah Legrand - Entrepreneur:

Sarah Legrand

My plan for the year 2016 is to make sure that Rwandan people and the expatriates or tourists know my workshop because it’s now two weeks since I got a place for my business in Nyamirambo. I would also like to find a partner who has a shop where I can put my jewelry preferably in the city center. I also plan to fund Rwandan packaging, work with women in cooperatives whose products are from natural materials. Health wise, I am planning to do a lot of sports.

Vanessa Raissa Uwase - First runner up; Miss Rwanda 2015:

Vanessa Raissa Uwase

My 2016 plans involve progressing with work and school too, and I definitely plan on doing more humanitarian and charity work. I also plan to register for more competitions whether its pageantry or others.

Zulfat Mukarubega - Entrepreneur:

Zulfat Mukarubega

In the field of education, I want to focus on increasing more on the quality. In 2015, I put up an institute called ‘Home Care Training Center’ which offers different vocational training programmes such as hospitality, tailoring and catering among others. I started it because I was looking out for the youth who didn’t have a chance to join university so that they too can have an opportunity to access skills. On a more personal level, there is really not much because I earn a decent living, I have a roof over my head and my children are in school, that’s why I mostly want to focus on helping others.

Diana Tumuhairwe - Student:

Diana Tumuhairwe

My plans for the year 2016 are still in the pipeline. I want to first look back on how the past year went then find areas that need change, and also introduce some new aspects like better health and interpersonal skills. I am also hoping to find a job for financial stability.

Joselyn Umutoniwase - Designer:

Joselyn Umutoniwase

I am planning to expand my business, employ more people so that I get to increase production. On a personal level, I am expecting my first baby, and this will be a full time job. I don’t think I will have time to do anything more than this since this is my first child.

Ambassador Fatuma Ndagiza - Deputy CEO, Rwanda Governance Board:

2016 will be a chance for me to look back on the best achievements and then reflect on where things worked to determine changes. When it comes to work related issues, I am looking forward to being able to enhance better service delivery and of course good governance promotion in Rwanda and in Africa. As a person; of course the plans you have for work are almost like the ones you have for the family. For instance, I plan on having more time for the family and also being there for friends.

Cynthia Umurungi - Radio presenter KFM:

Cynthia Umurungi

Recently I joined KFM, and now I am back on radio. So, for 2016 that will be my focus. If all goes well, I think I will travel a bit maybe somewhere in Asia for a holiday.  I think I will also get married, but it’s still in the pipeline.

I also want to get involved with vulnerable people more. I have procrastinated for a long time so I am really praying that with this coming year I make it.

Rafak Nara - Entrepreneur:

Rafak Nara

I am planning to go for further studies maybe for a Master’s degree so that I add on my qualification papers. I also plan on getting married and starting my own family. On a professional level, I am planning to start up another business to boost my income.
