What will you do this Christmas?

Christmas is just a few hours away, and many people are in the festive mood. Some are hoping to travel, while others might just stay home with family. Donah Mbabazi asked a few women about how they will be celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

My Christmas started on the 22; I went to Masaka firm and shared gifts with over 200 children, we had fun and it was really great. But on the actual day, I will go to church and then after, go home and be with my family; have fun together, and that will be it for me on Christmas.

I personally do not have any big plans for the day. I will go to church then after, celebrate with my family; that is how I usually spend Christmas. I will be at home all day as I prefer to stay indoors. I will help cook of course, most of our relatives are coming to join us. It will be fun having them all in the house.

I plan to spend my Christmas with my siblings and two children. I anticipate that the day will start with my children running to the heavily decorated Christmas tree for their gifts and then after, we shall go to church to join other brethren in celebrating the birth of Jesus. We will then have lunch at our home in Kanombe as we listen to a playlist of favourite Christmas songs and crown the day with a family outing. Merry Christmas!

As a tradition, Christmas has always been family time; we convene with my brother and sister and their kids, some uncles and aunties and spend the entire day together. The ladies cook while the kids play and the men get drinks and hang out in the sitting area. A family feast then follows with a lot of laughter and merry making. That’s how I usually spend my Christmas.

I am planning for this Christmas to be special; I want to make the best of it for my family. I’m planning a special treat for my family; we will go to church then come home to a well prepared meal, we shall also have some friends and relatives join us because for such moments, the more the merrier. We shall be home all day and plan a family day out on Boxing Day.

I will go to church of course and after, I will prepare something special for my family. I have a surprise for them; I will cook for them. Not that I don’t cook, but for Christmas, it is going to be special, as I will bring out all my specialties because I’m a good chef. My whole day will basically be spent with family and after, in the evening, I might go out.

I won’t be travelling; I will be around and it will be such a big day because I will be baptized in my church called Jesus is Coming in Remera. That will happen in the morning and from that day on, I will be saved. After that, I will go for celebrations at our church and from there, back home to be with my family. Most of my family members will be around, I might work for some hours but this Christmas is about my baptism and celebrating the day.

Well, Christmas is a big day for me as it is the birthday of Christ Jesus my Saviour; that’s why I usually spend it with family. I also plan on doing a lot of shopping; I will buy gifts for my family. My day, however, will start with church since I am Catholic, then I will have lunch with the family and after that, I will go out with friends and have an extended Christmas celebration then go back home.

For Christmas I will probably be here in town but I will have my whole family around. I will be here because of work as I am always busy so the only option is to have my family come over. On Christmas, I will go to work as I will be performing at Galaxy Hotel but I will go back home and join my family.

I am planning to travel to Uganda for Christmas. I am going to spend the day with my parents and relatives and we will have as much fun as we can. This will be an opportunity for us to hang out because we spend a while without seeing each other.

For this year’s Christmas, I am hoping to go to Kampala with my kids to meet my family in Uganda. I prefer being with my relatives on this special day because I consider it family time. I hope to unwind from there, have fun and make memorable moments.

There are some children from my neighborhood that I teach. I give them some English classes and also teach them how to read. I decided to celebrate this Christmas with them because they have become family. On Christmas Eve, I will go for a play at my church and then on Christmas Day, I will have a normal church service which will end at noon. I will then go home and celebrate with my family and the kids. I won’t be going out I just want to be with the kids.
