THE PREDICTOR: Tinkerman in Mourinho’s way

Merseysiders Everton squandered a home game and drew to Crystal Palace last weekend and will want to make amends away to Norwich. Currow Road might not be the best place to travel to, but in Romelu Lukaku’s current form, Everton are assured of a goal or two.

SATURDAY

NORWICH     0-2    EVERTON  2.45pm

Merseysiders Everton squandered a home game and drew to Crystal Palace last weekend and will want to make amends away to Norwich. Currow Road might not be the best place to travel to, but in Romelu Lukaku’s current form, Everton are assured of a goal or two.

WEST HAM  3-1  STOKE                 5pm

The Hammers have not been the same since Dimitar Payet’s injury, but this is a game Slaven Bilic has to win. Stoke City, after that convincing victory of Manchester City, will be buoyant, but relaxed too. That is where they will pay.

SUNDERLAND   0-0  Watford 5pm

Sam Allardyce’s impact at Sunderland has been immense. You just have to watch how the Black Cats withstood Arsenal pressure before going down. Suddenly, it looks as though Sunderland will be able to survive relegation, but to do so, they must dispatch the likes of Watford and ensure that all the three points remain at home. Watford are dangerous in the final third, yet Sunderland as susceptible in the back, but if they can frustrate Odion Ighalo, a draw is possible.

MAN CITY  4-2    SWANSEA           5pm

Swansea side who sacked Garry Monk on Wednesday after a run of just one win in 11 Premier League matches. That is what the hosts couldn’t have liked more. After going down to Stoke City last weekend, Manchester City will want to regain the top spot with a convincing win. Trouble is that their defence can’t stop leaking goals in the absence of injured skipper Vincent Kompany. The trick now is to score more goals than a Swans side that is bereft of ideas.

B’MOUTH      2-1    MAN UTD          8pm

This game has the hallmark of a comprehensive Cherries win, coming on the back of a historic win at Stamford Bridge while for the reverse, a sucking Champions League exit for Manchester United. Now the visitors are in desperate need of a lift, but worse is that they have to do so without up to six first team players. Bastian Schweinsteigger is suspended for three games, but Louis van Gaal will be more concerned that he has to make do with full-backs Cameron Borthwick-Johnson and Guillermo Varela alongside Paddy McNair  because Chris Smalling and Matteo Darmian joined long-time casualties Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones.

MONDAY

LEICESTER  2-1                 CHELSEA         10pm

Claudio Ranieri was nicknamed the ‘Tinkerman’ for his tinkering with the squad while a Chelsea manager, but that is in the past. His Foxes side are top of the table and daring to dream, while Chelsea are 17pts adrift.
