Editor,

RE: "Queen of England to bestow leadership award on Rwandan” (The New Times, December 8).

What could be more pleasing on a Tuesdaymorning, while sipping a cup of Rwandan tea in my hotel room right here in Kigali , than reading about the young Rwandan geek Nancy Sibo, who has been announced as one of the 60 youths from across the Commonwealth to be recognised as exceptional leaders in their respective communities ?

It will be a great sense of satisfaction and achievement for the 22-year old to receive the Queen’s Young Leaders Award.

It is always an honour to receive an award for outstanding performance. But receiving an award from none other than Her Majesty The Queen of England is all the more exciting and creditable.

Only recently, in 2014, Sibo was named the first ever Miss Geek in Rwanda for an app she developed called ‘ Mobile Cow.’ Sibo’s Miheha bag initiative, which uses recycled plastic drinking straws to create products like handbags, earrings and belts is also commendable.

I have no doubt that Rwandan youth, ably guided by the Ministry of Youth and ICT, will continue to shine as leaders of tomorrow.
