Rwandan teams will begin their campaign in this year’s Castle Beach Volleyball tournament as favourites, according to Flavien Ndamukunda.

The two-day event starts on Saturday throughSunday in Kampala, Uganda.

Rwanda Team A is comprised of INATEK’s duo of Olivier Ntagengwa and Patrick Kavalo while Team B is made up of Rayon Sports centre player Pierre Marshal Kwizera and APR left attacker Ndamukunda.

The women’s teams include the pair of Denise Mutatsimpundi alongside Charlotte Nzayisenga (Team A) with Seraphine Mukantambara partnering with Judith Hakizimana in Team B.

"It is a good competition for us as we are preparing for the Olympic Games qualifiers, we didn’t train well but we will try to use our skills to win game after game, it’s a good challenge for us,” the 28-year old Ndamukunda told SaturdaySport before the teams’ departure on Thursday.

Apart from Rwanda, Kenya and hosts Uganda, organisers were still expecting more countries to register by Friday.

The four Rwandan teams reached the third round of qualifiers for 2016 Olympic Games last month in Egypt, where Rwanda finished second behind Angola and Egypt in the men and women categories, respectively.
