Why France always blocks Genocide extraditions

RE: "French behaviour on Genocide fugitives is sadly expected” (The New Times, November 30).

What kind of decision do you expect from a Supreme Court that is tightly controlled by the state? France is not one of those developed countries that can claim to have a judiciary that is relatively independent.

The greatest fear France has is that once in Kigali courts, one of those génocidaires will put more weight to Rwanda’s accusation of France having played a role in the Genocide against the Tutsi.

As individuals, however, those criminals do not really mean anything to France.
