The East Africa Exchange (EAX) has stepped up to integrate more Rwanda farmers to its warehouse receipts program this coming harvest season. The Kigali based Commodity Exchange is now operating a warehouse receipt system that facilitates farmers to access a number of services including secured warehousing, collateral management, warehouse receipts issuance, warehouse receipts financing and trading through a structured platform system.

Early last week, the EAX organized a three days joint sensitization and training session with Ministry of Commerce and Industry , MINICOMM for farmers in the Eastern, Northwest and Southern provinces of the country aimed at supporting more Rwanda farmers to embraced the warehouse receipt idea, which commenced this year and have been useful to many farmers. The training was also attended by grain Traders and representatives from financial institutions, all part of the warehouse receipt ecosystem.
