It is crucial for evaluating services and operations of educational institutions or programs in Rwanda and elsewhere in the world. This audit process is done by an external body to determine if applicable standards are met by the educational institution. On recognition of the applicable standards, accredited status is approved by the appropriate accrediting agency. In Rwanda, educational accreditation is granted by the Higher Educational Council, in partnership with Rwanda Education Board (REB) and MINEDUC.

Recently, the Ministry of Education was questioning the quality of various courses offered by different universities in the country and this seemed to affect many of Rwanda’s private higher learning institutions. This has also caused a lot of worry to most parents who are very conscious about the quality of skills and knowledge they expect for their sons and daughters after university.
