Some of the best local and regional comedians thrilled Kigali comedy lovers on Saturday at Serena Hotel. Uganda’s Collins Emeka, Alex Muhangi, and Kenya’s Chipukeezy graced the ‘Comedy Jam’ alongside Rwanda’s Herve Kimenyi, Babu and Arthur, among other comedians

The Comedy night was characterised by rib-cracking jokes.

However, the event started late as organisers waited for people to fill up the venue. The show which was set to start at 6:30pm did not kick off until 8pm.

However, the long wait was worth it as the three regional comedians cracked the jokes that reflected on the beauty of Rwandan women, the rise of the Rwandan music industry, and the cleanliness of the city of Kigali, among others.

Arthur and Babou stepped on the stage first to welcome the audience, as they cracked some jokes to engage the crowd.

Right after a few minutes, Emeka took to the stage. Emeka described himself as ‘a Nigerian Mukiga’ as he mimicked the Nigerian behaviors.

Colins Emeka, who was describing himself a Nigerian Mukiga, also enaged the audience in an electric comedy

Emeka said it’s hard to tell that a Nigerian is happy since many of the times they talk like they are grieving.

"Trust me, Rwandans are so beautiful that even the ugliest one can be miss Uganda, if you take her there,” he cracked it.

The sensational Afro-RnB and Pop musician Bruce Melody and his Band also had some good time to entertain the crowd.

Performing some of his hit songs like Ndakwanga, Ntujya unkinisha and Ntundize, Melody treated the audience to excitement, which had everyone sing and dance a long with him.

Uganda’s celebrated comedian, Muhangi cracked jokes mainly about the Rwandan traditional songs, saying that these songs are of high quality. He also sung some of Christopher Matata and Kamaliza’s songs showing how good they are, compared to todays.

"Rwandans are beautiful that even when an ugly girl from Uganda comes, she looks like them. But the only way to tell that one is a Ugandan, just go to the club. The way they dance is as if they are fighting,” Muhangi mashed it up.

Speaking to The New Times, Chipukeezy said that Rwandan comedians have potential.

"I have seen that Rwandans are talented, but again they need platforms like these ones, where they are able to practice and expose what they do. They also need to be supported in any way, so that they can be able to compete on the international level,” he noted.
