After winning his first game in charge on Wednesday, Rayon Sports head coach Ivan Jacky Minnaert will be looking for the second win against SC Villa of Uganda in the ongoing StarTimes-sponsored Christmas Cup at Amahoro stadium on Saturday.

"We want to continue with our winning mentality in the next game (against SC Villa). I want to win and win that’s my ambition. It is good to have this competition because it will help me assess my players and by the time the league resumes, we will be in the right position to do better,” Minnaert said.

Rayon Sports won their first match against Gicumbi FC 1-0, thanks to Mustapha Nsengimana’s lone goal.

Gicumbi will play their second match against SC Kiyovu at Mumena stadium. The Belgian tactician added that, "We will try to win the second game because we want to go as far as possible in this competition; it’s our competition, so it’s important that we do well for our fans. We will go into the match with a winning attitude.”

On Friday, Uganda’s most successful club, SC Villa and SC Kiyovu drew 2-2 at Mumena stadium. The match was initially supposed to be played on Thursday but was swept away by heavy rains.

The 10-day inaugural Christmas, organized by Rayon Sports, has attracted eight teams and the champions will walk away with Rwf5m besides the trophy, while losing finalists will get Rwf2.5 and the team that finishes third takes home Rwf1.5m.
