The Kilimanjaro Stars of Tanzania beat Amavubi stars of Rwanda 2-1 in the second game of CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup to book a place in the quarter finals.
Tanzania got the first goal through Said Hamis Juma in the 23rd minute before Simon Msuva scored the second goal in the 78th minute.
Ten minutes later Rwanda got its lone goal through Jacques Tuyisenge.
Tuyisenge, Jean Claude, Ernest Sugira and Michel Rusheshangoga all had goal chances but didn’t hit the target.
Tanzania lead Group A with six points followed by Rwanda with three points while hosts Ethiopia and Somalia, who will meet today, have no point. Amavubi will face Somalia in their last game on Friday.
In other matches, Zanzibar was humiliated by Uganda (0-4) as Farouk Miya scored two goals in 10th and 17th minutes, while Erisa Ssekisambu found the net in the 48th minute and Ceasar Okhuti in the 79th minute.
