Ugandan RnB maestro Michael Ross Kakooza known by his stage name Michael Ross entertained music lovers at Class Club, The Mirror Hotel over the weekend.

The event which was supposed to kick off at 11:30pm started after mid-night because the club was almost empty but as is almost the norm with Rwandan revelers, by midnight, the dance floor was packed to full capacity.

With DJs Afrikano and DJ Kagame spinning the discs, Ross stepped onto the stage at around 1AM to wild cheers and ululations especially from his female audience.

Accompanying his vocals with his impressive dance skills, Ross delivered his well known hit songs like Yooyo, Love I feel, Clothes off, Tell me, Gimmie tonight, Ndakwikundira, and Ndi nowange, among others.

The Ugandan put his fans in a mood of excitement leaving everyone yearning for more.

The Ugandan multi talented singer, dancer and choreographer performed over ten songs and he could not hide his excitement when he realized that his audience was singing along to almost each song.

Speaking to The New Times after his performance, Ross expressed his excitement about having another opportunity to perform in Rwanda.

"I am really happy to perform in Kigali for the second time this year. I have been missing all my fans. I wanted to let them know how much I really care because they are the ones who made me who I am now. That’s one of the reasons why I even composed the Kinyarwanda song for them,” he noted.

The show also featured other artistes like Uganda’s Toniks and Ray Signature, Zambia’s Roberto and General Ozzy, Burundi’s Big Fariouz and Rwanda’s DJ Pius, among others.

33-year-old Ross started singing back in his primary school days and his style is mostly influenced by American singers Usher, Genuwine, R Kelly, Michael Jackson, MC Hammer and Bobby Brown.

He released his first single Senorita in 2002. The song won the award for best RnB song in the 2003 Pearl of Africa Music Awards. He followed it with other songs including You are the one.

To appeal to a broader Ugandan audience, Ross started singing in his native language; Luganda releasing songs like Yooyo, Nze Akwagala and Ndi n’owange. He later switched back to singing in English releasing songs like Tell me featuring rapper Navio and Gimme tonight which have all received good airplay.
