Families and relatives of cancer patients have occasionally visited me seeking a way forward. In most cases their faces are sad and they are eager to find an immediate solution to their loved one’s condition.

Normally we counsel them before deciding on a long-term treatment plan. The treatment protocols and medicine available in our stores for cancer provide temporally relief though there are always options for patients to live longer, based on the stage of the disease and available treatment modalities. That not withstanding, the psychological trauma of my patients prompted me to search for alternative solutions.

I carried out extensive screening procedures for my patients especially over the weekends. We offered them lifestyle advice especially regarding their diet.

The burden of challenges prompted me to think about alternative therapy and herbal treatment to some causative agents.

I visited the jungle for lessons and indeed saw a lot of health solutions in the jungle. However, the most important plants need to be well-natured and there is lack of regular maintenance for most precious herbs. Furthermore, most of the herbs are fed on by goats but unfortunately we do not have enough goats in Rwanda to possibly transmit the medicine through swallowed meat.

Last month, I met a Jewish professor who has specialised in bone cancer and fortunately answered many questions that I have always asked myself. Professor David is a medical doctor who has travelled allover the world in search of medical solutions especially for cancer patients.

The most inciting story about this successful medical professional is that he survived cancer 27 years ago. At the time, he was pursuing his master’s degree in Germany. He suffered from leukemia,liver cancer and brain tumor in the same period and thought he was about to die.

He narrated to me that one morning, he sat on the sidelines of his treatment room and felt the urge to travel to different parts of the world to find an alternative option. It is the alternative that helped him beat off the cancer. I hope to pay more visits to Professor David for more lessons on various cancer conditions.

The story of Professor David with proved scientific evidences about his treatment outcomes, provide us with a belief that every health problem or condition can be cured if the right treatment is accessed.

The access of many medications/facility is not easy for every one because there are many crucial drugs that are not available on our local pharmaceutical stores. This becomes difficult for the health care system to access them.

In medical practice, timely judgement of the patient condition and immediate initiation of the right treatment is very crucial in recovery.

I want to remind my readers that many battles are going on a world-wide scale to trace definitive solutions for cancer and its causes. There are available medical solutions that clear body viruses like the herpes, hepatitis among other viruses that cause cancer in our body. We expect a lot of improvements in cancer treatment outcomes in the near future.

The current targets are looking at the life of cancer cells inside our bodies. Cancer cells cannot survive with oxygen and they also do not withstand high temperatures.

All targeted solutions are now looking at how to get inside the body and destroy the cancer cell without damaging other organs.

The outcome of these studies has proved fruitful on several occasions but the lifestyle of a patient remains very crucial in treatment success. This also explains why cancer patients need a regular visit of nutritionists.

For example sugar is one of the food ingredients that are not recommendable for cancer patients. Cancer cells have high affinity to sugar molecules. The more you take sugar, the more you give chance for your cancer cells to feed, grow and destroy your body.
