RE: "Kigali airport ranked 5th in Africa” (The New Times, October 23).

Big up to the stakeholders in this wonderful progress, though concerned authorities have to look into how aviation related taxes, fees and levies can be reduced and some subsidised where applicable so that we can attract more operators.

Indirectly or directly, this will boost employment opportunities, tourism, and investment growth as a result of fair airfares.

While the airport is indeed much improved in some ways, it is not a nice experience to drop people off there or pick them up.

The last time I was there, I could not get information about which flights had landed, (and the officials who had the information were not helpful) and I failed to locate any toilets for people who are waiting.

These facilities used to be there before the rebuilding, and are standard in all the other airports I use.
