Rwanda Police handball club will be looking for their first win at the African Handball Champions League in Nador, Morroco today against Libya’s Ittihad after losing their opening group A match against home side Widad on Wednesday.

The two-time local league champions fresh from winning the 2015 title with an unbeaten record, lost to Widad 46-28 with Jean Baptiste Habimana scoring eight goals for Sgt Albert Sibomana’s team.

"We arrived in Nador on Wednesday morning and we played our first game in the afternoon without any preparation yet all my players were tired,” Sibomana told Times Sport by phone from Nador.

However, Sibomana noted that they have had enough time to relax and adapt to the hot weather in Morocco and therefore want to register their first win against Ittihad in order to boost their chances of reaching the knockout stage.

Libya’s Widad lead group A with three points, level with Egypt’s Al Ahly in second place, Gabon’s Stade Mandji and Rwanda Police are third and fourth respectively with a point each. Ittihad are bottom of the table without a point.
