Rwanda national taekwondo team has confirmed their participation in the Morocco International Taekwondo Open slated for November 27-29 in Agadir.

The three-day event will come two days after the Rwanda team makes its debut in the 11th edition of Tournoi International de Paris slated for November 14-15 in the French capital, Paris.

Speaking to Times Sport on Tuesday, the national team head coach Irene Allan Bagire revealed that after the conclusion of the Tournoi International de Paris, the team will fly straight to Morocco.

"We want to use both tournaments to prepare for the Olympic Games qualifiers slated for 04-06 February also in Morocco,” said Bagire.

He added that the team has started daily (six-hour) intensive training at Amahoro indoor stadium as they seek to make a memorable debut in both competitions.

Rwanda will be represented by a team of four players (two boys and two girls)—they include team captain Regis Iyumva, who competes in the U-58kg category, Cedric Mwemezi (U-74kg), Zura Mushmbokaazi (U-49kg) cand Aline Ndacyayisenga in the U-53kg category.

To qualify for Rio 2016 Olympic Games, a player has to win a gold or silver medal from the qualifiers, which will be staged in Agadir city.
