All Africa Games gold medalist Janvier Hadi.

Since returning from Tour de Côte d’Ivoire a week ago, Team Rwanda riders have been training at Musanze-based Africa Rising Cycling Centre and their coach Felix Sempoma is confident his men are in good shape to impress in Cameroon.

"They (riders) are in great mood and I am confident we will achieve our target of winning the race. We have been doing well recently in all the competitions we have participated in, so this puts us in a good position to (win) in Cameroon,” Sempoma told Times Sport on Sunday. He noted that the 2.2 UCI category race is also a good way of preparing riders for the upcoming Tour du Rwanda slated for November 15-22.

The 15th edition of the annual Chantal Biya Race men’s international race will attract twelve teams, including debutants Rwanda that will field a five-man team.

Skipped by All Africa Games gold medalist Janvier Hadi, Team Rwanda also includes Joseph Areruya, Joseph Biziyaremye, Gasore Hategeka and Bonaventure Uwizeyimana.

Eritrean Mekseb Debesay, who rides for Germany-based Bike Aid team, is the reigning champion.
