Burundi’s Berco Stars and Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) of Uganda square-off in the FIBA Africa Zone Five Club Championships title-deciding game this afternoon at Amahoro indoor stadium.

The winner will represent the region at this year’s FIBA Africa Club Championships slated for later this year in Angola.

Going into today’s encounter, Berco Stars, who start as favourites, will be looking to win their first regional title, however, KCCA, who also have maximum 8 points from four games, could be having other ideas of their own.

Both teams have already won all their previous round-robin games at the championships against last year’s winners USIU (Kenya), Don Bosco (Tanzania) as well as APR and debutants Ubumwe (Rwanda).

Speaking to Saturday Sport, Berco Stars head coach Patrick Ngwijuruvugo emphasized that, "We are in Kigali to win this tournament, we have played competitions here before so we know how to handle our expectations.”

On Thursday, KCCA stunned holders USIU 72-69 and Ubumwe won 76-52 over Don Bosco while Berco defeated APR 64-53.

In men’s category, title favourites Gezira (Egypt) overpowered Tiger Head Power (Uganda) 104-71, CSK (Rwanda) thrashed NFEL (S. Sudan) 94-61, and Dynamo (Burundi) lost 61-53 to Ulinzi (Kenya) while City Oilers defeated Savio (Tanzania) 59-41.
