Recently crowned champions Police Handball Club will go into their last match of the campaign against second-placed APR today at Kimisagara youth centre seeking to end the season unbeaten.

Sgt Albert Sibomana’s team won the first round fixture in April at the same venue 17-14. Ahead of the final game, Sibomana said, "The players are well motivated and determined to end the season with an unbeaten record.”

However, the four-time league champions, who have 51 points in 17 matches, are more focused on the upcoming Africa Handball Champions League in Nador, Morocco.

"With the league title already in the bag, we want to use Saturday’s match as part of our preparations for the Champions League,” noted Sibomana.

The African Handball Champions League is scheduled for October 21-30. Police are set to fly to Morocco on October 19.

"Our target is to get out of the group, which is very tough however; we have a better squad compared to one we had in 2012. I’m quite confident about our chances of doing well this time round,” said Sibomana.

Police has been drawn in Pool A along with Al Ahly (Egypt), Stade Mandji (Gabon), Ittiad (Libya) and Widad (Morocco). Tunisia’s Club Africain, who are in Pool B, are the reigning champions.
