Rwanda Athletics Federation (RAF) has confirmed that Rwanda will participate in next year’s Africa Cross Country Championships which will be held in Yaoundé, Cameroon on March 12.

According to RAF secretary general, Johnson Rukundo, the 15 athletes, who will represent the country, will be selected in December.

Rukundo said, "We shall select our team in early December and start preparations immediately after the national trials. Teams to participate will be known after the national trials.”

The last edition was held in March at the Kololo Golf Course in Kampala, Uganda – the first time an East African nation had hosted the event since its re-launch in 2011.

For a third successive time, Kenya dominated the event, led by men's winner Leonard Barsoton and women's winner Faith Chepngetich Kipyegon.

In the junior category, Moses Letoyie and Agnes Jebet Tirop led a 1-2 Kenyans victory. Afewerki Berhane of Eritrea (third in the men's junior race) and Alemitu Heroye of Ethiopia (second in the women's junior race) were the only non-Kenyan individual medalists.
