RE: "Officials should not sit on their hands where money is concerned” (The New Times, October 7).

There aren’t enough words to describe the frustration and critical time wasted in going back and forth on processes like this. This article touches on so many other areas of any service related transaction.

It can take you an entire day, or two or three, to complete an errand that requires paperwork–change of names, transfer of documents or just obtaining a certificate of proof. Indeed we have come a long way; however, let us not get complacent and think that we "have arrived”....

Disclaimer: We were handed a system from our colonizers (believe it or not), that is still so evident even in their own systems of operation.

If you have ever gone to a government institution in Belgium or France to obtain a document/certificate...then you will know what I mean–an endless hierarchy of ranks to go through, plus 10 stamps and signatures from different departments and a final one from the top "authority” is outright insanity.

It is time to cut that cord and implement systems that work efficiently.

The rhetoric has to match our policies and in our standard operational procedures–it will certainly show in our results. Yes we can!
