Rwanda national handball league champions Police have started training in preparation for the African Handball Champions League slated for October 21-30 in Nador, Morocco.  The team is training at Kimisagara youth sports centre.

The four-time Rwandan league winners are set to fly to Morocco on October 19 aboard Rwandair express.

According to Police head Coach Sgt Albert Sibomana, the team started the training camp early in a bid to do better than they did at the last edition also staged in Morocco in 2012 where the Rwandan club lost all their group stage games to finish last.

"Our target is to get out of the group, which is very tough however, we have a better squad compared to one we had in 2012. I’m quite confident about our chances of doing well this time round,” said Sibomana.

He revealed that that they have recruited APR’s Gilbert ‘Camarade’ Mbonyinshuti to boost the team.

Mbonyinshuti was part of the Police team that disappointed in 2012.

Police has been drawn in Pool A along with Al Ahly (Egypt), Stade Mandji (Gabon), Ittiad (Libya) and Widad (Morocco). Tunisia’s Club Africain, who are in Pool B, are the reigning champions.
