Rwanda Cycling Federation (FERWACY) has signed a partnership agreement with their Belgian counterparts aimed at fostering closer relations between the two bodies.

The agreement was signed by FERWACY president Aimable Bayingana, and the head of Belgian Cycling Federation, Tom Van Damme in Brussels, Belgium on Thursday.

As part of that partnership, Belgium pledged support to FERWACY in introducing track cycling in Rwanda. Belgium will also offer equipment support to the national cycling team, Team Rwanda.

Bayingana told Times Sport that the partnership between the two countries is a big step towards building a stronger Team Rwanda.

"This partnership is very important, especially to Rwanda. Belgium is globally a cycling powerhouse; there is a lot we will learn from them. The introduction of track cycling is also another good thing for Rwanda,” Bayingana said.

He noted that, "Our riders will also have regular opportunities to go for training camps and competitions in Belgium and vice-versa.”

Cycling, has become probably the most successful sport in Rwanda with a tremendous growth rate.
