APR’s Congolese yet to report for training

Nine time national football league champions, APR Fc are sweating over the availability of their newly signed Congolese duo of Lusadisu Basisila Guy and Bokungu Ndjoli.

The pair that was in the country at the end of last season to put pen to paper, was expected back after DR. Congo’s final Group 12 2010 World/Africa Cup qualifier against Malawi.

Malawi secured a thrilling home victory over DR Congo to progress to the third and final qualifying round as one of the eight best runners-up.

Lomana Lua Lua put DR Congo in front in Blantyre but Robert Ng’ambi and Chiukepo Msowoya scored for Malawi to register a 2-1 win.

Egypt topped the group after a comfortable 4-0 win against Djibouti.

Lusadisu was signed from TP Mazembe while Bokungu moved from Congolese champions Darling Club Mutema Pembe.

By press time, they had not reported for training. 
The duo is part of the club’s 30-man list that was recently sent to the local football governing body Ferwafa for the 2008-2009 season.

In a wreck of several controversial transfer deals in the just opened football season, the disappearance of the players has created anxiety amongst a large section of club fans.

When contacted, APR’s acting Secretary General Aime Kayinamura preferred not to comment on the matter insisting that he would contact Times Sport later with full details.

However, an inside source at the club revealed that the players are expected to show up for training any time soon as they have signed contracts with APR and that Ferwafa has already secured their International Transfer Certificates (ITCs) from their former clubs.

Meanwhile, Ferwafa has issued a stern warning to football clubs to abide by the rules embodied in the transfer statute.

Mulenda ban
The warning comes at a time when several transfers have come under heavy scrutiny following moves of several players to and from different clubs.

Prominent among them is the transfer of Jean Claude Iranzi from SC Kiyovu to APR.

Iranzi, Kalisa Kase (Atraco), Abedi Mulenda (Atraco) and Arafat Serugendo (APR) moves have also raised question marks.

The fiasco led Ferwafa to hand Amavubi Stars marksman Abedi Mulenda a one year ban from participating in the Rwanda football league following a breach of transfer rule.

The federation Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa said last week that Mulenda will face a one-year ban from the local league after he intentionally breached Article 28 governing players’ transfer rules.

Article 28 states that any player who will sign two contracts for different clubs shall face a one-year suspension from the Rwanda national football league.

Initially, Mulenda renewed his contract to stay with the taxi-men club on July 22 but a month later, he signed a two-year deal with the blues (Rayon).

On Saturday, APR visits Kibuye hoping to keep their 100% start to the league intact after back to back wins.

The 2006 champions opened their campaign with a compelling 3-0 win over newcomers Amagaju before rounding off a hard-fought win over AS Kigali.
