Kigali Warriors Cricket Club takes on Challengers CC in a 50-over Premiership qualifier this morning at Kicukiro Cricket Ground, starting at 9am.

This is the second qualifier after Kerala Hunters posted 180 all out in 26 overs to limit Victory Cricket Club 112 all out in 32 overs beating them by 68 runs.

Challengers, who are known for their prowess in the Twenty20 format, will be hoping to replicate this form in the longer version of the game.

They are not taking this encounter lightly and will be fielding two Ugandan internationals Geoffrey Gandi and Daniel Ruyange as well as relying on the national team duo of Subhasis Samal and Bob Bashir Songa.

"Winning is our aim. We need to win this game well enough with a higher net run rate better than Kerala Hunters’ 3.42 in order to get direct qualification to the Premiership,” said Srinath Vardhineni, captain of Challengers.

Kigali Warriors captain Sadesh Kumar said, "We have a big chance to win this game because the longer version (50 overs) suits most of our players’ skills.”

Of the two sides, the one with the best net run rate will automatically qualify for the Premiership while the second will take on Impala Titans who got a bye in the first round.

The UAE Exchange and Xpress Money 50 overs Premiership tournament will have six men teams participating including defending champions Right Guards CC, runners up Indorwa CC, Telugu Royals CC, Kigali CC and Kerala Hunters as well as the winner between Challengers and Kigali Warriors.
