Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) women’s representative Felicite Rwemalika will attend the inaugural edition of FIFA’s Female Leadership Development Programme from September 28-October 2 at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich.

The module two that involves practical training sessions of the nine-month programme has attracted 35 participants who will be mentored by over 20 people from across the globe.

The first module of the programme took place after the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 final in Vancouver and the third module which is scheduled for February 29-March 3, 2016 will take place in Zurich as well.

"This is an inspiring programme that will lead me to another level. Women’s empowerment through football has been my dream," said the delighted Rwemalika who has been behind women’s football in Rwanda for close to a decade.

FIFA Executive Committee co-opted member and chair of the Task Force for Women’s Football Moya Dodd told FIFA.com that, "This programme is about identifying, supporting and developing strong female leaders in football, which is in line with calls for greater female representation across all areas of the game.”

"As one of the mentors, I am looking forward to exchanging ideas during next week’s workshop and seeing the progress that has been made by the participants on their personal projects that will translate into tangible benefits for women’s football."

This programme is part of FIFA’s plans to develop women’s football with the aim of increasing the number of female leaders and role models in football in executive committees at country, regional, continental and world levels geared at strengthening football governance and improving the game.
