Saint Aloys Rwamagana has been disbanded from the National Handball League for one year following their peculiar withdrawal from the league last month.

Rwanda Handball Federation (FERWAHAND) secretary general Jean Paul Ngarambe confirmed to Times Sport that the club never officially wrote to the federation asking them to withdraw from the league, but instead the school’s director Fr. Kamiri Karemera Rudasingwa made a telephone call informing him of their withdrawal which is unlawful.

"He just told me that they cannot play any further in the league because the students were concentrating on their studies which would interrupt them,” said Ngarambe.

Ngarambe added that after the phone conversation, he informed the director to write an official letter about the issue which he never did within the agreed period of time.

"They have been banned from the national league for one year until 2017 and will pay a fine of Rwf50, 000,” added Ngarambe.

In a separate interview with the Director of Groupe Scolaire Saint Aloys, Rudasingwa revealed that pulling out of the league was their decision just like they had earlier decided to take part explaining that banning them does not concern them in any way.

"We shall not appeal because there is nothing much we benefit from this league so instead we shall wait for them to remove those punishments and if they don’t, we don’t care,” said Rudasingwa.

Saint Aloys withdrew from the league last month after 13 league matches and were in fourth position with 28 points.
