After his first win as Rayon Sports coach in the opening weekend of the league season, head coach David Donadei has said his team can win the Azam Rwanda Premier League title in his first season.

The 2013 league champions made a perfect start to the 2015/16 season with a convincing 2-0 win over Marines FC at Tam Tam Stadium in Rubavu on Sunday.

Two second half goals from midfielder Djaber Manshimwe and striker Davis Kasirye were enough for Frenchman Donadei to top the Azam Rwanda Premier League (ARPL) table on goal difference ahead of Police, Espoir, Sunrise FC and defending champions APR FC, all on three points.

"From the first day of training, my message to the players has been clear, we have to aim for the top end of the table, and winning the opening match of the season put us on the right path,” Donadei said after Sunday’s win.

"(As coach) my first priority is to win the league title. I know it will be hard but in life you have to be ambitious and set high targets in order to achieve the best results,” the Frenchman explained.

Rayon Sports will continue their campaign on Wednesday when they host AS Kigali at Muhanga Regional Stadium. "We need to get better results against any team,” Donadei noted

To be able to achieve his targets, Donadei has to blend in seamlessly as well hope for the same from the new signings including Fabrice Kasereka, Davis Kasirye, Thierry Manzi, Kevin Muhire, Savior Nshuti, Cedric Mugenzi , Olivier Seif Niyonzima, Alexis Ndacyayisenga and Jean d’Amour Nzayisenga, Djuma Radju Niyonkuru  and Bodo Ndikumana.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Sunrise FC coach Jimmy Mulisa made his league debut with a 2-1 home win against Musanze. Goals for the Rwamagana-based side were scored by Patrick Munyankindi and Cyprien Sinamenye while new signing Peter Kagabo netted the consolation for Hussein Barack’s Musanze.

Meanwhile, new league entrants Rwamagana City FC held last season’s first runners-up, AS Kigali to a goalless draw at Mumena stadium in Nyamirambo.
