It wasn’t as exciting as anticipated at the Peace One Day Schools 7s final edition as the Rwanda Rugby Federation (RRF) joined the rest of the world to celebrate the game’s contribution to peace across the globe at the UTEXRWA ground in Gacuriro on Saturday.

The tournament which was initially slated for Sunday to celebrate Peace One Day which is marked on September 21, took place a day earlier resulting into hashed preparations and fewer fans.

The event attracted six schools namely; EAV Kabutare, ETM Mukingi, G.S Gitarama, APICUR, G.S Nganza and G.S Bugoba but the day belonged to ETM Mikingi’s scrum half Patrick Ikoraukwishaka, who was named the tournament Most valuable Player (MVP).

He scored four of his seven tries against APICUR in the final game in the 47-7 win. APICUR responded with one try through prop Diego Dusenge.

The six participating schools are winners of the regional 7s tournaments organized by FoRR who are making efforts in partnership with the RRF to develop and keep alive the game at primary and high school level countrywide.

Majority of the players in the tournament play in the National Rugby League which is likely resume in November.
