Lycée de Kigali (LDK) reached the semi-finals of the inter-schools cricket tournament after seeing off Kagarama SS to emerge winners of Group A with eight points in the boys’ category.

LDK won the toss and opted to bowl first, limiting Kagarama to 66 all out in 10.5 overs with Derrick Harerimana putting up a stellar performance conceding just 14 runs in four overs.

Habibu Kamugisha too was good with the ball conceding 11 runs in two overs as they limited Joseph Karemera and Bryson Bugingo 27 and 17 runs in that order for Kagarama.

In the second innings, Oscar Ntege and Didier Rugamba led LDK’s run chase scoring 33 and 13 runs not out respectively to secure their first win on Saturday before seeing off ESTH Gasogi on Sunday.

Lycée De Kigali will host Effotec at the Lycée de Kigali cricket ground in the semifinals while Group B winners IPRC, who amassed eight points, will be up against Kagarama SS who came second in Group A with four points at the Kicukiro Cricket Ground tomorrow.

In the girls’ category, tournament favourites Groupe Scolaire Ndera topped Group B with eight points with wins over Effotec and FAWE Girls who defeated Effotec by 10 wickets.

Kagarama SS lead Group A with eight points followed by ESTH Gasogi girls with four points. Kagarama will face FAWE Girls at Kagarama Ground while GS Ndera will host ESTH Gasogi at Ndera Ground.

Reigning champions IPRC TSS girls are out of the tournament after losing all their games in the preliminary stage. The finals will be played at Kicukiro Cricket Grounds on September 19.
