Rwanda host Ghana in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers this afternoon at Amahoro National Stadium. Ahead of the game, Saturday Sport moved around Kigali streets and asked a cross-section of people  to make their predictions on how the game will go.

Rwanda beat Ghana 1-0 thanks to Jimmy Gatete’s 49th minute goal back in 2003 to qualify for 2014 AFCON in Tunisia—Ghana finished bottom of the group, which also had Uganda.

Amavubi will be full of confidence at home following six successive wins in front of their own supporters, including the 3-1 win over Ethiopia in the their last outing last Friday.

"We are ready to support our team, we will be at the stadium two hours before kickoff and I am confident we shall beat them 2-1,” said Jean Baptiste Habimana, a motor cyclist.

I don’t believe that we can win this match. Ghana will win 2-0. Our team is not strong to resist Ghana’s pressure and I don’t expect much from them.’

"Ghana have good players and I fear they will teach Amavubi a football lesson.”

Eric Kanamugire, another moto-rider  said that, "We want to make history by beating Ghana twice in qualifiers, Ghana is one of the best teams in Africa but our team has been doing well at home and has improved in FIFA rankings, so I am confident we shall win, though it’s hard to predict the score.”

Uwase Mutoni says Amavubi will benefit from the home advantage where they have a relatively good record against the so called big teams.

"Our team has beaten so many (visiting) teams at Amahoro and at regional (Kigali Regional Stadium), which makes me believe that we can actually beat Ghana as well.”

Carine Umurungi and Blandine Gashagaza, both students at Kacyiru-based APAPER secondary school concur that because Rwanda has once beaten Ghana, they can still repeat it.
