Rwanda women beach volleyball team of Charlotte Nzayisenga and Denyse Mutatsimpundu is determined to finish in the medal-winning positions at the 2015 All Africa Games set for September 4-19 in Congo Brazzaville.

A total of 24 teams will vie for medals in the beach volley competition, which begins on September 7.

Nzayisenga and Mutatsimpundu won gold at the 2012 Confederations of African Volleyball Junior Beach Cup in Togo, and the duo believe they can replicate such a performance at a bigger stage.

Nzayisenga said before the duo departed for Brazzaville on Wednesday that, "We have enough experience of playing against big names in Africa so we hope we can go for at least one of the three medals (gold, Silver or bronze).

"We have worked so hard for this competition, and we believe there is a chance to do really well,” she added.

The pair left the country along with their male counterparts, Fravien Ndamukunda and Olivier Ntagengwa, who will compete for the men’s glory.

The two teams have been in intensive training in Rubavu (Palm Beach). The men’s team is under the guidance of Alexis Mbaraga while women’s team is trained by Damascente Murengenzi.

Meanwhile, the indoor volleyball competition in Brazzaville started on Wednesday evening in men’s category when Cape Verde came from a set behind to clinch an exciting five set victory over struggling Seychelles 3-2 (25-21, 22-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-12) in Pool B.

In the same group, defending champions Cameroon cruised past Ghana 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-18) while in Pool A, Egypt outclassed Mozambique 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-18).

In women’s competition, Ghana beat Congo 3-0 (25-11, 25-20, 25-21), Nigeria won o3-0 ver Mozambique (25-19, 25-21, 25-21) while favourites Kenya defeated Algeria 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-15, 25-23).
