Rwanda has moved up 13 places from 91st to 78th in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola rankings released on Thursday at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.

The news is a confidence booster for Johnny McKinstry’s team (ranked 20th in Africa), who face Ghana’s Black Stars tomorrow in a top of the table 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Group H qualifier at Amahoro stadium. Ghana are ranked third in Africa and 27th globally, behind Algeria (19th) and Ivory Coast (21st).

In the CECAFA region, Uganda moved from 74th to 71st to remain the highest ranked team in the region. Sudan stand in 89th position, Ethiopia, who lost 3-1 to Rwanda last week, are 103rd while Kenya come in 116th position.

Burundi, Tanzania, South Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia and Djibouti are 134th, 140th, 198th, 201st, 202nd and 205th respectively.

Argentina remain the top-ranked team in the world, ahead of Belgium, world champions Germany, Colombia while five-time world champions Brazil complete the top five. England sit in 10th place and Spain (11th) while France dropped to 24th place.
