RE: "Diaspora youth convention to discuss business development in Rwanda” (The New Times, September 1).

It is very encouraging to read that the first International Rwanda Youth for Development (IRYD) convention is scheduled to take place from 25 to 27 September in Montreal, Canada.

This is a great initiative and IRYD could well groom Rwanda’s leaders for tomorrow.

The youth are the most powerful resource for any country – so are for this beautiful nation located in the heart of Africa. As such, IRYD, which was founded with the aim of stimulating the involvement of Rwandan youth and friends in the nation’s development, would well serve the objectives for which it was established.

Entrepreneurship, today, is the buzz word. Governments the world over are encouraging the youth to become entrepreneurs, thereby creating employment for others instead of further upsetting the job market, which is most often saturated.
