Intwari Fc lifts Veterans’ Cup

SOUTHERN PROVINCE

HUYE – Intwari football club dominated the twoday testimonial tournament organised in honour of Jean de la Croix Nkurayija, the club’s president.

Intwari trounced visiting Abawigeze from Burundi 2-0 in the final game that was played at Huye stadium.

Participating clubs include; Intwari, Solidarity Fc, National University of Rwanda’s Alumni ’95 and the National Bank of Rwanda which was thrown out of the tournament for fielding an under-age player.

Burundi also fielded three clubs; Desperados, Jimcana and Abawigeze.

The tournament in Huye followed several other similar tournaments held in Gisenyi, Ruhengeri and Burundi which were all won by Intwari.

Speaking to Times Sport after the final game, the retiring Intwari president Nkurayija said that he will now devote his energy into youth development.

"I will work with local clubs in nurturing and promoting young talent,” said Nkurayija who is also a don at the National University of Rwanda.
