Sunrise FC go into today’s Agaciro Development Fund Cup final against Police FC at Amahoro National Stadium as underdogs but head coach Jimmy Mulisa believes his youthful side can stun the favourites and win the trophy.

Police finished in third position last season and also won the Peace Cup while Sunrise, who debuted in the topflight league last season, finished in an impressive fourth position, above the likes of Rayon Sports and SC Kiyovu.

Police eliminated Musanze in semi-finals 2-1 while Sunrise shocked defending champions Rayon Sports 2-0 in post match penalties after a goalless draw.

Mulisa is seeking to win his first trophy as coach, and speaking to Sunday Sport yesterday, he said, "Winning this tournament will not only boost our confidence going into the new season but most importantly, it will attract more fans in the Eastern Province and beyond.”

"It’s just a pre-season tournament but I have told the players the importance of winning a final, it helps to bring a winning mentality, once you win one trophy, it makes you want to win more,” noted the former APR and Amavubi forward.

In a separate interview, his counterpart, Andre Casa Mbungo of Police said his team will be going for nothing other than a win.

The final will be preceded by the third place playoff between Musanze and Rayon Sports which kickoffs at 1:30pm.
